Finally a fairly relaxing weekend hanging out with my pups. I had both puppies this weekend and we spent most of it watching football and The Walking Dead. I got out my big camera one afternoon and just started snapping away.
Perks of the weeekend: Notre Dame won in triple overtime, Ohio State killed Illinois and I got to spend a few hours at the pool to get some color back (was feeling a little pale lately). So overall not a bad weekend.
I’ll upload all of the puppy photos on Facebook over lunch today or something.
So as some of you know, on Friday the 21st of September I started a new job just down the street and things have been super busy lately.
So far the job’s going great, still adjusting to the work schedule though. Definitely not used to working till 6pm but it’s nothing I haven’t done before. Lot’s of work to do and little time. The new company is just two and a half blocks down the street so the commute is about the same as when I was working at THAT Agency downtown (above Leila’s).
The main drawback right now is time with my little Bishop and Winston during the day (and the time to take an after lunch nap with them on the couch).
I’m going to try and get back into the morning blog post a few times a week as time progresses since I’m pretty much on in the morning before I head to the office anyway.
Just wanted to say a quick thanks to the folks up in Seattle at Sesame Communications for a great few years of working at home. They definitely saved my ass over the past few years in this job market.
Last Tuesday I overdid CrossFit and seriously hurt my back. Wow, did I. When I woke the following morning I could barely walk it hurt so bad. So I hobbled six blocks to my doctor’s office and made my appointment. That was a hell walk if ever there was one.
Turns out I just had a severe lower back muscle spasm which usually happens when a previous injury just over reacts so my entire lower back wasn’t moving and was completely locked up. My posture was close to someone with severe scoliosis, slightly cocked to one side and not upright at all.
So they prescribed Skelaxin (muscle relaxer) and Indomethacin (anti-inflamitory) for the pain. Needless to say I had to take that Wednesday off of work. I couldn’t focus on anything and was falling asleep at my desk because of the drowsiness.
Today is probably the first day where my back is finally feeling better. Only one side of my back (previously injured a few months ago) still hurts a bit so I’m still taking it pretty easy. Now it’s time to get some work done. At least I’m not in severe pain anymore so Keep Calm and Chive On!
Finally a tropical storm is on the way and according to the Palm Beach Surf Report we should have some decent surf at the end of the week lasting until Tuesday next week. Surf should be maxing out at around 13 ft and the period between swells is looking good to so hopefully, fingers crossed, we get some surf this weekend. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one for sure over the next week or so. Maybe I can even talk my buddy Dan to come down and surf and better yet, maybe get Ramil to come up from Boca to enjoy in the swell.
So get those boards ready boys and girls, we should at least have something rideable very soon!
When all you want to do is sleep in and be lazy…just like these guys. Whew, life’s been busy lately and I haven’t had much to really say lately on the site so for that, I apologize. If only we had some surf or even a hurricane, that would be something! Right now it’s swelteringly hot and sticky outside. 90% humidity and over 80 every day making it feel close to 100. Just walking down the street it’s a miracle if you’re not sweating within a block.
The pups have been growing up so fast and Bishop has finally gotten bigger than little Winston. Hard to believe Winston’s a year old and little Bishop is 9 months old. They both are doing a great job of keeping a smile on my face on a daily basis.
I got a call from New York yesterday from a Federal Agent who’s working on a massive Internet Fraud case. They found my old 17″ MacBook Pro when they got the guy. Evidently he’s been running the same scam that got me on several other people throughout the United States.
So it looks like I’ll be getting my old lappy back next week sometime. He called to confirm it was mine and luckily I still had the serial number written down. The idiot didn’t even take my name off the login screen when I sent it though he did lock it.
So when I finally get it back I can just re-wipe it and reinstall the system software and see if I have better luck selling it next time (or give it to my little brother or something).
I asked about pressing charges but I’m not sure I’ll be able to. I’ll keep you guys updated when I get more information but needless to say that pretty much made my day, especially after the whole scam fiasco.
So at the beginning of the year I was around 187 pounds and had been for a few years but I decided to do something about it. Yoga was great and I was hitting the gym at least twice a week but to be honest things were pretty much at a standstill.
So my neighbor, Julie started doing crossfit and convinced me to try a month with her. I gotta tell you it’s not easy and still kicks my butt. For the last month I’ve been at it and now I’m down to around 172 pounds. Granted not all the weight was lost from Crossfit but I’m finally feeling in shape. Probably in better shape than I was in my early 20′s and definitely better shape than the rest of my 30′s.
So, thanks Julie for stepping it up a notch and and twisting my arm to go to Crossfit. My twin sister has been in it for over a year now and from her Facebook posts, she’s now doing fitness competitions. Geez, congrats sis! I’ve got some catching up to do.
Other than that, the puppies and work not much worth mentioning going on. I am looking forward, however, to an active hurricane season so the “getting back in shape” part will definitely help when it comes to surfing this fall.
So in the process of selling my old laptop online I fell victim to a new internet/PayPal/CraigsList scam. Lucky me.
I put the laptop on Craigslist yesterday morning and within a few hours I had a buyer. He requested my PayPal information so I logged in and sent a request for funds to my PayPal account. The account was listed as “Pending”. Then a few minutes later I received an email (I thought was) from PayPal, saying the funds will be released into your account once we have a shipping / tracking number for Express delivery. So I walked down to the Post office, sent it next day ($80) to the address provided.
About an hour later I got a confirmation email saying the funds will be in your account withing 12 hours.
This morning I was curious why the status hadn’t changed on my PayPal account yet then I received another email saying they overcharged the buyer by $800 and for me to Western Union over the money. Red Flag! What the fuck?! I still hadn’t received my initial $1000.
I then called PayPal and they said “Pending” means that the buyer handn’t even verified they got the email, let alone had $1000 in the PayPal account. Hell, they didn’t even have an account at all.
So now I’m out $80 and my old laptop, which was really worthless to me anyway. I was just hoping to get some cash for it or find a worthy friend/family member to give it to.
After a few informative emails and letting the buyer know I reported them to the Internet Crimes Division (ic3.org) and made a formal police report with all of the information I get an email back simply saying:
Come to Nigeria
